2010-11 Crown Royale Hockey – Break & Review!

It was a rainy day in Montreal so I stopped by the local card distributor, Quecan, and got myself my first Hockey Box from Panini this year. I’ve bought some singles but Crown Royale is my first bust in terms of Hobby Wax. All I can say, right now, is that it is a good product with some flaws. Let’s review:

PROS

  • The design of the base card is good, really good. Reminds me of the goold old base sets from the 90’s
  • Collation is interesting and the different card shape keeps thing interesting
  • Clean on-card auto was the star of the box
  • The jersey card was good looking, considering.
  • The sticker autos are well blend in.

CONS

  • The outer box is weak and some cards can be damage because of the decoy inside (I had 2 base cards with corners dinged)
  • Too many inserts subset (1 or 2 is enough, not one per pack)
  • Design of the inserts are too crowded, it’s hard to tell what are their exact name.
  • The font used on most of the cards is hard to read and not really good looking

Overall grade is a solid B+ for this product. A fun bust, good chase / value and I’m pretty sure a full case will hold some really really good cards (Hall RC Patch for exemple)
